Your First Paint Party: What to Expect

Welcome

If this is your first paint party—yay! This guide provides a clear overview of the entire process, from start to finish. Like pears and apples, we’ll separate the parts: timeline, what we bring, what you provide, and the photos we capture so you can relax and enjoy.

  • Party length: 2–2.5 hours

  • Skill level: 100% beginner-friendly

  • Group size: 6–30 (ask about larger groups)

  • We bring: canvases, paints, brushes, aprons, table covers, easels, wipes, water cups

  • You provide: tables, chairs, good lighting, sink access, trash can, optional snacks/drinks


Timeline (Minute-by-Minute)

Before Guests Arrive (–45 to –15 min)

  • We set up tables/easels, aprons, table covers, palettes, and water cups.

  • You check lighting, sink access, and a handy trash can.

Welcome & Setup (0–10 min)

  • Quick intro, aprons on, show the Owl in Love sample, explain steps.

Background & First Layers (10–35 min)

  • Light sketch (or stencil for kids).

  • Paint the moon glow and night sky gradient.

Main Shapes (35–70 min)

  • Block in the branch and two owls (simple ovals + circles).

  • Instructor circulates to help.

Break & Dry Time (70–80 min)

  • Short stretch/snack break while layers dry.

Details & Highlights (80–110 min)

  • Add eyes, beaks, hearts, feather texture, stars/splatter, and soft highlights.

Group Photo & Clean Up (110–130 min)

  • Optional group photo with finished canvases.

  • We lead a quick tidy-up and pack out.


What We Bring (So You Don’t Have To)

  • Art supplies: 11×14 or 12×16 canvases, acrylic paints, brushes (flat & round), palettes, easels, aprons

  • Protection & cleanup: table covers, paper towels, wipes, trash liners

  • Instructor kit: example canvas, step cards, fan for quick-dry, small speaker (low volume)

  • Kid-friendly add-ons (optional): light owl/heart/branch stencil or pre-sketched canvases, extra smocks
